MS GOP Lt.Gov Calls Hannity's Show "Terrible" In Open Mic Moment

The video tells the story.

Sean Hannity's "reporter" asked leading questions to two random people protesting in Ferguson, a woman "with a job" and a kid in high school. They were not the most articulate, but that was obviously by design. Hannity could then extrapolate out of those two people his talking point that all the protestors are mis-fed information.

Even though Lt. Gov. Kinder is a fellow wingnut, he shook his head and blurted out "God, that is terrible TV."

He had no idea that he was live!

Hannity heard the comment and seemed startled by it, but continued with his introduction assuming Kinder was with him. As you will see in the video, Kinder wasn't listening and clearly thought he wasn't on camera yet.

When Hannity was done being a blowhard and explaining how people should think (we report, you decide my ass), Hannity asked Kinder a question. Realizing Kinder wasn't listening, Hannity asked, "Peter, can you hear me?"

Whoops! Kinder realized he was on and immediately began rattling off on Sean's talking point. Yes, yes, you are so right, Sean.

But the damage was done.

As I was watching this trainwreck, I couldn't help but compare the quality of Hannity's crap-fest with Rachel Maddow. Heck, I don't have a million lemming followers but even I really do put an effort into my posts to make sure they are accurate and respectful of the intelligence of my audience. God knows that if I make wild assumptions or exaggerate, I am called out by at least a dozen people.

Rachel Maddow holds a doctorate from Oxford in political science. Her show is intelligent and thoroughly researched. I would be embarrassed if she conducted her show as amateurishly as Hannity does his, even though I agree with her point of view. Hannity is a college dropout who was also a failed radio host until he was rescued by Fox News co-founder Roger Ailes. Ailes needed someone incapable of critical thought and would tow the conservative line unquestionably. Hannity fit the bill.

Unlike liberals, conservatives just don't have much of a standard when it comes to someone who spouts their point of view. It is one of the reasons Bill O'Reilly still has a job on Fox even though he is a proven liar. You can lie about everything and you can be terrible, just tow the line.

Deep down conservatives know this, apparently; but it was still refreshing to hear it live.

Since Fox News Airs ISIS Propaganda for Free, Advertisers Demand Free Ads

Fox News before President Obama:

"The TV network Al Jazeera helps al Qaeda and other killers by broadcasting their executions propaganda." Bill O'Reilly, 2004

"American journalists [are] helping Iraqi terrorists by showing pictures of terrorist acts provided by Al Jazeera, a TV network that seems to have strong links to terrorists." Fox News, 2005

"Some people say the airing of what they call a terrorist propaganda video has actually put American soldiers in danger."javascript:; Fox News 2006, criticizing CNN for airing footage of American soldiers killed in Iraq

This was all before we had a black president that Fox decided they hated more than they hated Islamic terrorism.

Fox News is the only media organization to broadcast the graphic video in full. They justified it because some BS about President Obama not acknowledging the reality of the terrorism threat. Of course, not only do they show the poor man brutally being burned alive for several minutes, Fox even included, for no reason, the first 15 or so minutes of complete and unedited ISIS propaganda.

Then, in complete lack of any self-awareness, Fox later attacked President Obama for his prayer breakfast remarks complaining that he was "defending Islam" and said "the only thing propaganda does is recruit for Isis".

Again, this came right after Fox distributed Isis' recruitment video.

Malcolm Nance, executive director of the Terror Asymmetircs Project on Strategy, Tactics and Radical Ideology blasted Fox saying they "are literally - literally - working for al-Qaida and Isis' media arm. They might as well start sending them royalty checks." Rick Nelson, senior associate at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, said that the Fox's actions empowers groups like Isis because "these groups need a platform, and this gives them a platform."

Apparently, not only are sane people ticked off by this, but some longtime advertising partners of Fox. They are getting some serious backlash over this and, after all, they are the ones who have been paying for ad space while brutal terrorists got their entire ad on Fox News for nothing.

There is sick irony in the fact that the US military has to pay an exorbitant fee to air recruitment videos on Fox but Isis can have apparently have their recruitment video featured for free --as long as it is brutal enough.

A couple of business owners have emailed Fox to say that this isn't fair and they deserve free advertising. If you own a business or even if you don't, but just want YOUR message to get a national audience, contact Fox News and demand they give you at least equal treatment as Isis.

Now, I do understand if you don't want to be associated with such an awful organization like Fox. Maybe I should be cutting them some slack. After all, maybe they realize that their brand is so tarnished that terror groups may be the only ones left still interested.

MUST SEE: Stewart Obliterates Fox News over Ferguson

Jon is outraged at Fox's outrage. The story with link is here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/erik-wemple/wp/2014/08/27/daily-shows-jon-stewart-obliterates-fox-news-coverage-of-ferguson

You can also go directly to the link here: http://thedailyshow.cc.com/videos/ufqeuz/race-off.

Sorry, but this video is no allowing me to embed.

We've been waiting for Jon to take down Fox's increasingly despicable rhetoric (including this morning questioning of we can really call a big black guy an "unarmed teen")? It was worth the wait.

“I guarantee you that every person of color in this country has faced an indignity, from the ridiculous, to the grotesque, to the sometimes fatal, at some point in their … I’m gonna say last couple of hours, because of their skin color,” he said, before making his final, sobering statement: “Race is there and it is a constant. You’re tired of hearing about it? Imagine how fucking exhausting it is living it.”

Fox News: Casey Verdict Makes Sense

For those of you who know me on the site, I do a series called "my stupid state" chronicling the sheer madness that lives here. We have a lot of trouble with voting, we like to elect criminals, and after today, we can add "let child killers go free" to the list.

There were piles of evidence that she was involved in the death... the search engine, the duct tape, the laundry bag, the other items from her house found at the scene. Her ridiculous excuse that she drowned... (Why the hell would you duct tape her mouth!?!?) Her nonstop lying to the police. The contempt she showed her daughter before her disappearance and the sickening celebratory behavior after Caylee was killed.

No other "news" organization is justifying or condemning the verdict... but reporting the facts. But Fox decided to put this on the FRONT PAGE of their website:

Why Casey Anthony's Verdict Makes Sense by Dr. Keith Ablow

"Dr. Keith Ablow" focused entirely on her behavior after the killing. He said it "makes good sense" because certain people party after a trauma... especially someone like Casey who was "raped as a child" (although he admits this is something Casey just accused her father of). He tries to explain behavior in this ridiculous article that he admits may never have happened. It truly is indicative of a Fox News Story.

I was furious, but then I remembered that name. Where have I heard Dr. Keith Ablow before?

OH YEAH, this guy! Glenn Beck's minion:

Fox News Contributor Dr. Keith Ablow Attacks Barack & Michelle Obama’s Patriotism

October 2010

Fox News favorite psychiatrist, Dr. Keith Ablow, who is a Republican and who was last seen on Fox’s Megyn Kelly show where he deplored the creeping nanny state that monitors the body mass of American school children. He also provides validation for Glenn Beck as shown by his response to Beck’s contention that Obama has a problem with race. Ablow, being his objective medical self, said that “The president needs to look at himself and say, ‘Do I have prejudice that I wasn’t even aware of, perhaps, towards white people?” So surprise, surprise, this morning we have a Fox News “opinion” column which says that America is “in denial” about Obama because they just can’t deal with Obama’s questionable loyalty to America. Ablow burnishes his “creds” by invoking his experience as a doctor in order to do a “virtual” psychological evaluation on the feelings of Americans towards their president. How’s that for some nice, slick agitprop?

This there was this. Jon Stewart had fun with this one:

Fox News Pundit Responds To J. Crew Pink Nail Polish Controversy By Ignoring Facts, Spewing Misinformation

April 2011

The most offensive opinion piece published on a nationally recognized journalism outlet appeared on Fox News' website.

Dr. Keith Ablow, a television psychiatrist and Glenn Beck associate, penned the story. (He also recently co-authored a book called The 7, a combination of Beck memoir and Ablow's self-help techniques.)

...

He then sinks into a deep non sequitur:

"And while that may seem like no big deal, it will be a very big deal if it turns out that neither gender is very comfortable anymore nurturing children above all else..."

Dr. Ablow, what does raising children have to do with wearing nail polish? The logical fallacy of grouping these things together allows you to ignore the real issue, and instead highlight the conservative 's political call to "save the American family," whatever that means. It's like the Westboro Baptist Church rhetoric, just without the offensive words.

"...and neither gender is motivated to rank creating a family above having great sex forever..."

Again, what does pink nail polish have to do with having great sex all the time? As if you can't have both?

The close association on Dr. Ablow's part between gender identity and sexual activity is completely uninformed. For an average heterosexual American, unfamiliar with the plethora of alternatives in society, this error is a understandable. But Dr. Ablow is a psychiatrist. He is using this factual error to spread misinformation and, yes, hate.

It's nice to see Glenn Beck's people will continue to infect Fox News long after he has left.

Finally! CNN Calls Fox News LIARS!

It's almost 15 years late, but I was wondering when a real news organization would ever call out the obvious fraud on anything. If you are like me, you've been frustrated that an obvious propoganda arm that has no journalistic integrity whatsover has been allowed to pretend otherwise.

In fact, Fox News has been a bully.. using its pundits to go after any real news organization that gets in its way, or dares to challenge their phony "fair and balanced" meme.

But Fox News hit a little too hard against CNN. And Nic Robertson had had enough.

Fox News claimed that Reuters crews and CNN were lured into being "human shields" by Khadafi's buses that toured the destruction in Tripoli to prevent allied forces from bombing.

Nic Robertson lost it:

Outrageous and absolutely hypocritcal.
When you come to somwhere like Libya, you expect lies and deceit from a dictatorship. You do not expect it from the other journalists.

He rants about Fox News claiming that they refused to send anyone on the bus because it was all propoganda. But they did, and Nic calls them on this lie.

They sent a Fox News toadie to go along with the 40 real journalists with a hand-held camera who even admitted to them that he had no idea why they sent him.

I urge you to watch the video. You can see his anger building as he talks. He basically says he has no idea why the hell Fox News is even there. The FAUX correspondent NEVER LEAVES HIS HOTEL ROOM!

I see him [Steve Harrigan] more times at breakfast than I see him out on trips.

I don't know who he's talking to here to pick up and find out what the story is. When we go on these government trips... it is for a simple reason. We don't want government officials to film it themselves, edit it themselves, and hand it off to us. We want to look for ourselves...That's why we go. BECAUSE WE ARE NEWS PROFESSIONALS!

This follows Bill Keller, chief editor for the NYT, on his comments going after not only Fox but their idiot viewers.

When Fox cried about it, I loved his statement:

I don't think anyone at Fox believes they are producing even-handed, impartial coverage," he said. "...To say otherwise, to pretend to be something else, does strike me as cynical."

Colbert did a funny take on it:

This is what you get when you watch FoxNews

Thanks to the Arlington County (Virginia) Democratic Committee's Deputy Chair Maureen Markham:

Dear Friends,

I wanted to write and tell you about an experience that I had in Maryland on Highway Route 40 today. I had been to visit my parents in Delaware and was driving home to Arlington. Often I avoid the heavy traffic on I-95 and take Route 40 to Baltimore. I was stopped at a traffic light, about to turn right to jog over to join 95 and take the tunnel under the harbor, when a dark sedan pulled up alongside me, beeped, and the driver motioned for me to roll down my window. It was not an isolated place and in broad daylight with lots of other cars around. I thought the person wanted to ask directions or something so I put down the window. The driver was a normal-looking young white man, maybe 35 or so, with short sandy hair. He leaned forward from his open window and said to me “Did you vote for Obama?”

I should say here that I have two bumper stickers on my back fender. One says “Peace is Patriotic.” The other is a round circle that says Obama-Biden. I answered "I sure did." Then he got loud and excited in a sneering sort of way and asked something like, "Are you happy now with the way things are going?" I thought “uh-oh” but I answered again, "I sure am." Then the guy went off his rocker and started verbally accosting me saying something like, "I hope to God someone shoots you dead, you liberal Pig..." Sophie started barking and I said "Oh that’s nice" as I rolled up my window. He lurched forward, cutting me off in the lane and beeping his horn and I made my right turn, glad to get away from him.

I had time to think about this during the rest of the drive home. I could not find anger in my heart toward this person, but rather a deep sadness took over me. Is this what our country is coming to? I’ll bet this person thinks he is a Christian. I thought about how oppression, violence and intolerance have characterized human history, and it makes me sad that we have made so little progress. I feel that our Country is in deep trouble, threatened by people who claim they want to “Take our Country Back” – from whom? Take it back where? What Constitution are they reading? What Bible are they reading?

I am thinking of Nazi Germany before World War II when ordinary German citizens felt vaguely uncomfortable about what was going on but did not speak up because it did not impact them directly, and then afterward because they were afraid. It is a wake-up call to Progressives, Liberals, Moderates, and Independents who do believe in the values that this country was founded upon, among them freedom from persecution because of your beliefs and because of your religion. If we want our streets to be safe to drive on, we need to find a way to defuse these people without being wimps and just giving in. We cannot let these people take over our Government!

Please, if you are not paying attention to your local elections this fall, now is the time to get involved. If you voted for Obama and are now disappointed because he is not Left enough, think what it will be like when they try to undo what he has managed to accomplish. If you voted for Obama and are now disappointed because he is too Liberal for you, do you really want to go back to the Wild West days when people wore guns in holsters on their hip? Do you approve of people trying to threaten and intimidate others just because they voted for a Black man for President? Did you all really think that we could turn around 8 years of war and decline in just 18 months? Do you really want to hand over the reins of government to the people who drove us into the ditch and who have stubbornly refused to be part of any solution to pull us out? These people would rather see Obama fail, and the middle class suffer, and the country pulled apart by strife and conflict than do anything to make things better. This is not putting country first. Don’t let this kind of cynicism succeed!

Please folks, don’t sit this one out. If we fail to participate, and the other side wins for lack of enthusiasm on our part, then truly Fear will triumph over Hope. We just can’t let that happen! Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

Thanks for reading, and feel free to pass this on.

Still a Hope Monger,

Maureen

Fox News is still Funny!

Seriously?!

Karl Rove complaining about ABC getting "unprecedented access" to the White House? When Jon Stewart was informed that Karl Rove was getting a job at Fox News while Bush was still in office, he jokingly asked one of their anchors if this means that Fox would finally get close to the White House. Watch this montage about Faux News bragging about "unprecedented access" not but two years ago...

FoxNews: Obama Would Have Negotiated with Terrorists?

Idiot non-savant Jon Kraushar, who calls himself a "Communications Consultant" for FoxNews, found a way to take the unified stance Bush and Obama showed against the awful terrorist attack in India to an awful partisan smear of Obama. Granted, he is just a flunkie who gets paid to do their blog, but FoxNews featured this at the top of their website today.

The mind of Krushar:

As details emerge about how commandoes ended the brutal attack on Mumbai, India it will offer the incoming Obama administration — and the world — lessons about the most effective ways to quickly end a terrorist strike on a city and may also suggest longer-term strategies to discourage future terrorist traumas.

President-elect Barack Obama’s campaign declarations on everything from national security to economic security are undergoing severe reality checks day by day.

Under what conditions is it effective to negotiate with terrorists? What anti-terror strategies result in at least limited havoc and horror?

Can anyone tell me when exactly Barack Obama said he would "negotiate with terrorists"??

Barack Obama said he would conduct tough diplomacy with leaders of nations who are not our allies. (Who the hell else would you conduct diplomacy with?) He never said he would "negotiate" with Al Qaeda. Al Qaeda is actually worried now because they face a presidential advesary who is actually focused on wiping them out: as opposed to endlessly trying to justify why we instead need to be distracted by a pointless and bloody conflict.

And their attempt to smear Obama by using Malcolm X showed how desperate they are. Al Qaeda is clearly worried because the world is now rallying behind our president-elect and have started to wave, rather than burn, our flag.

Is the author actually suggesting that Obama doesn't negotiate with unfriendly world leaders? Barack Obama is articulate and intelligent enough to conduct tough negotiations. Just because we have had someone for eight years who could barely put a sentence together is not a reason the conservatives should try to condemn someone who can.

Any president worth their salt knows you have to sit down at the negotiation table at some point with other leaders you may not like. Reagan did it with Yuri Andropov, FDR did it with Stalin, Kennedy did it with Krushchev, and so forth. Bush's unwillingness to negotiate with Iran or North Korea hasn't exactly paid any dividends: Iran is now a regional power developing a nuclear weapon, and North Korea has already gone nuclear. Well done.

I know FAUX News feels it has to provide opposition to our president-elect to placate their base. But it is possible to provide thoughtful criticism without resorting to lies and smears.

If you think it's wrong, let this moron know how you feel by leaving him a comment.

Hannity Asks the Tough Questions; Colmes Hits Hard

Of course, this diary title is the same as McCain's desperate advertising campaign. Complete, utter, LIE.

McCain has lied so much he has broken precedent. (You know you are bad when Rove tells you to stop.)

But Hannity wanted to give Sarah Palin a chance to finally address the "lies" against her:

HANNITY: How you dealing with some of the harsh attacks against you? Let me give you a couple of examples.

PALIN: Oh, thanks. Good.

HANNITY: Well, I'm glad to do it.

I know, gag me. Barack Obama went on a tough interview with O'Lielly at Faux News, and there were damn sure no kid gloves with him. But is there SERIOUSLY the GOP talking point left that this sheltered governor of Alaska is more prepared than Obama?!?

Barack went toe to toe and beat Bill. The sheltered governor of Alaska wouldn't take any questions from weak-ass ALAN COLMES.

Alan didn't get to ask ONE question. He was only allowed to introduce the segments!!

COLMES: Coming up Governor Sarah Palin talks about the role faith plays in her life and why Ronald Reagan continues to be her inspiration.
....
We now continue with Sean's exclusive interview with Governor Sarah Palin.

Any respect at all, and it was already near 0, for Colmes was completely erased because of this interview. There is no question why he is there as Fox's token "liberal". What a pathetic existence.

With no balance whatsoever, we got treated to loaded questions like:

Why do we need to win in Iraq? Just get right to the bottom line. Why is losing not an option?

I can play that game too. I would ask, "Is it OK to force our troops to provide security for the corrupt and inept Iraqi government indefinetly while giving them 10 billion a month in taxpayer dollars? Even if they never decide they want to take over? Or, the opposite, even if they say they want us out?"

OR just ask: "When in your mind can they leave?" IF she says something stupid, like "When the job is done", just ask "OK--how do you know the job is done?" But this is the question I've wanted them to ask Bush for five years.

NO. She got questions like this:

Let me ask you this. Senator Obama had talked about people in Pennsylvania, while he was in San Francisco, as being bitter Americans, clinging to guns and clinging to religion.

Do you think that was a putdown of middle class people in the country?

MY God, is this REALLY a news network? REALLY?

But then Hannity got mad. He demanded--OK, I'm doing it again. He asked her to address concerns people had--but pretty much answered them for her:

HANNITY: Never part of an effort to secede — have Alaska secede from the Union?

PALIN: No. False. Always been a Republican, not been a part of a party that has wanted to secede.

NO, but you supported them, attended their conventions, and your psycho HUSBAND was a member.

HANNITY: Did you rigidly support it and did you change your view on it? Because the Democrats are saying, no, no, no, she originally supported it and she said she said she opposed it.

PALIN: Well, I killed the Bridge to Nowhere. And you know, I think I ruffled some feathers there, also, with our congressman who had been requesting that bridge for so many years.

STILL LYING!! Anyone who still believes she killed the bridge to nowhere deserves a McCain Palin administration (or Palin/McCain). Every news organization, even WSJ, even Murdoch's AP has called this a lie. But credibility means nothing when you go to Hannity's Fox.

I could go on, but you get the picture.

Please donate to Obama. I can't take 4 more years.

Why do Democratic Politicians go on Faux News?

Just this morning, I was flipping through the channels, trying to catch the news about the Indiana primary race. I stopped at what I thought was a legitimate news outlet (it had a scoll running across the bottom and everything). I got the results and was about to move on, but then I looked up....

Hatemonger Michelle Malkin was on. Why Stalkin Malkin still has a career after stalking a 12-year old boy and writing a book on why people should be locked up based on race is beyond me.

But there is always an audience for her on "Fair and Balanced" Fox.

It was only a minute I watched--just enough to catch the results, when I heard one of the "reporters" on that show ask Stalkin Malkin a perfectly fair question:

"Could you give some examples of how she [Michelle Obama] hates America?"

Malkin responded that she watched Michelle Obama on the Today show (one of the yokels tried to make a joke about mentioning their "competitor"--like they have any relation to a real news station). Stalkin Malkin went on some rant about Michelle Obama saying how proud she was of her husband, which according to Malkin's twisted logic meant that she hated America because she didn't mention how proud she was of her country as well.

(Yeah, that makes sense. I often tell my son I'm proud of him, but always follow up with "BUT not as much as AMERICA!" But I wear flag pins to bed with me, something you terrorist-loving America haters don't understand.)

I could laugh it off but it reminded me of how angry I was that both Barack AND Hillary decided to go on this stupid network very recently. For what reason, I have no clue. All they did was help FOX pretend to be a legitimate news source and allow them to inject this obvious right-wing vile as regular news..

I can imagine the outrage if this happened on any other network, but for some reason we seem to have outrage overload on FOX and just ignore it. They are a dangerous force and should be called out every time they cross the line.

And NO DEMOCRATIC POLITICIAN SHOULD EVER GO ON FOX!!! PERIOD!!

The GOP politicians don't EVER go on left-wing medium, like Air America or DailyKos. In fact, they call ANY successful left-wing venture, like MOVEON.org or DailyKos, "Anti-American". (In fact, Markos posted a front page clip of Fox and Friends hosts going ballistic over some politician posting a diary on the "anti-American site DailyKOS!!!")

WHY the hell don't OUR politicians do that with FAUX News? (I can't even get them to stop joining the GOP in condemning OUR OWN support systems!!)

WHY the hell should any of our politicians give them an ounce of legitimacy? WHY do I have to even explain to our politicians the stupidity of going on that network---no one on the right is telling their people to "Get on DKOS and try to reach that audience!"

But then again, at least we don't pretend that we are fair and balanced. Maybe if we did, then all GOP candidates will be forced to come here, post diaries, and try to win us over.

Yeah, I know that sounds stupid.

Think about it.

Unbelievable--Even for Fox News

This started with a conversation I had with a GOP co-worker who only gets her news from FOX. Now, far be it from me to tell folks who vist this website that Fox News is (gasp!) not "fair and balanced". But this takes the cake.

Last Thursday, March 27, the top news of the day was the break of the cease fire and the extreme violence that occured in the Green Zone. (Inconsiderate insurgents---ruined Bush's and McSame's speeches today on how great the surge was working). But those who get their news from FOX didn't know anything about it. My co-worker was trying to convince me that the surge had worked and the violence had ended.

I said "don't you watch the NEWS???" She doesn't. She watches Fox.

So I went online in the evening to check out what I found. I went to legitimate news orgs. websites, and then I went to FOX. Unbelievable what I saw. Let me show you.

Here are the screen captures from two legitmate sources and one from FOX. As you can see by the dates and times, I took each one around 7:45 pm (give or take a few minutes) last Thursday:

CBS News:

(Headline on the "deadly Shiite clashes" and the curfew that had to be imposed. Picture was of Shiite insurgents.):

CNN:

(Headline on embassy lockdown and the deadly fighting. Picture of massive plumes of smoke and helicopters around embassy.):

I didn't want to use up memory, but I can tell you that MSNBC, ABC News, and all other mainstream news featured this story on their front page.

And then there's FOX.

NOTHING on the attacks. NOTHING!! Nothing on the embassy lockdown. FOX readers only got to read the "important" news. At the same time as the screen captures for the legitimate news orgs, the big news on Fox was of Obama's former paster's retirement home:

FOX:
(Headlines: Rev. Wright's Dream Home, Michelle Obama's comment REVISTED. Picture of home being built).

Some dream home, huh? Looks like a normal house--something not fit for the pets of Pat Robertson, John Hagee, or Falwell. FOX "News", desperate to keep this Rev. Wright controversy alive, allowed this and a rehashed story on Michelle Obama, as well as a story on the Clinton/Superdelegate fighting, to be the stories of the day. There was a small mention of the Iraqi meltdown, but I really had to look for it. (I even had to use their search engine).

It is beyond the pale to understand how anyone can look at this and argue that Fox has no agenda. This is just one instance, the movie "OUTFOXED" documents hundreds of them. But I'm angry that so many Democrats still treat Fox as a regular news outlet and agree to do interviews with the filth that works there.

PS- In fact, go to FoxNews RIGHT NOW. Go on, I'll be here. And then compare to CNN.com. Notice anything? That's right It's the same deal right now. (As of 6pm 3/30)
