I’ve been corresponding with Senator Debra Bowen, who is the candidate for CA Secretary of State. I told her how our current elections chief, republican Mike Ertel, allows poll workers to take home the touch screen voting machines purchased for Seminole County. I told her that I didn't trust those machines because they are so easy to mess with.
She sent me a frightning video entitled "Midnight Vote Tampering".
She uses this in her campaign for SoS. Keep in mind that in Seminole, you don't even have to go through the trouble of breaking a lock since these machines are allowed to go to poll worker's living rooms. Watch it here:
Midnight Vote Tampering
My husband and I just finished watching a show on HBO about voting machine tampering in Florida, and they used the voting machines in Volutia County as a test of the accuracy of these machines, and I must say it scares the hell out of us. The machines they tested were Diebold machines and when they did a test vote it came out completely wrong from the test ballots they filled out. They had 10 votes, 8 No's and 2 Yes's and when the totally the votes on the machine, after scanning each vote, it came out as 7 Yes's and 1 No!
ReplyDeleteSo, that prompted me to look up to see what voting equipement we will be using in Seminole County on November 7th and to my horror I see that they are Diebold machines! Diebold! The same company that has contributed monies to Republican campaigns!
How on earth are we supposed to ensure that the votes are being counted correctly? I don't trust this vote one bit and my husband and I are terrified that voting numbers all over the country are going to be tampered with, again! What are we all supposed to do about this?
Also, why is it that we have only one supervisor of elections? Why can't we have supervisors of elections where there is one supervisor representing each party? Wouldn't that be more fair? Also, there must be a way to create tamper proof voting systems. This is insane! We are in the 21st Century and we haven't developed a tamper proof voting system yet?
I'm really scared about this November 7th election.
